Christian Johnson, El Cajon, CA - My letter of resignation - faxed 30 Nov
This letter is my express written formal resignation from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and it is effective 30 November 2008. As part of my resignation please remove my name from Church records.
I no longer wish to be associated with an organization founded on deceit, discrimination, violence, subjugation of women, and disrespect for the rule of law. There is no doubt in my mind that the good the Church has done has been overshadowed by an evil that silently, with a smiling face, slowly corrupts and gives false hope to millions of people around the world.
Growing up I looked upon the Temples of the Mormon Church as bastions of purity, faith and hope. Now when I see a Mormon Temple I am overcome with feelings of disgust and pity.
I view my resignation as a legal matter, not an ecclesiastical matter; as such I expressly waive any waiting period or internal church policies and procedures required for resignation. Please process this resignation immediately and without delay or transference to any bishop or stake president.
The only contact that I desire from the church is a written confirmation of resignation and name removal from church records. Any other form of contact by any representative of the Mormon Church will be unwelcomed, and will be against my express desire of a non-contact order.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter,
